Peter A. Moskovitz, M.D.

Dr. Moskovitz is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has achieved distinction in spine care as demonstrated by membership in the North American Spine Society. Dr. Moskovitz graduated from Haverford College and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. He has practiced general orthopedics, arthroscopy and spine care since 1974. He is a Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Neurological Surgery at the George Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Moskovitz and his wife raised their two children in the District. He enjoys fishing and rebuilding old cars. His scientific interests have included the prevention of surgical complications, minimally invasive spine surgery, the use of bone graft enhancers and biologic substitutes for spinal fusion. Recently his research has been on neuropathic pain and complex regional pain syndrome (he coauthored the book Living with RSDS in 2003) and theoretical work on the phenomenology and neurobiology of illness and chronic pain.

In community service Dr. Moskovitz was a medical advisor to the National Center for Therapeutic Riding and a founding member of the Board of Directors of the National Capital Chapter of Young Audiences. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association and a member of its Scientific Advisory Committee. Dr. Moskovitz is a life member of Trout Unlimited and a member of the Capital Mini Register.
